As a mom, wife, and “fill in the blank”, I’m always burned out, overwhelmed, and tired. This is what led me to realize it was time for me to take a step back and find ways to slow down and recharge. I want to share with you those five tips to help you sort through your daily life and find time for your personalized self-care.

Slow down with Candles
Creating a warm and relaxing space in your home with candles can be transformative in moods. Take a break from your phone, and other electronics and in place take time to read something you’ve had on your list for some time, meditate, or just sit in silence watching the world pass you by.
Looking for a candle? I’ve created the perfect nostalgic-inducing candle just for you. Smells Like Me Ma’s Hug, which you can buy in the Rustic Shop by clicking the button below.
Reading
If I could spend an entire day reading, I would. Reading is an excellent way to unwind and calm those rapid thoughts. Find a quiet space, and crack open that book you’ve been meaning to read for some time. Get fully immersed in the story, the environment, and take a break from all distractions.
Nature Walks
I hate to admit this, but spending time outdoors can do a lot for your mental health. It is also a great way to recharge your batteries. Simply take a walk in a park or through a forest trail, along the beach. Breath in the fresh air, take in your surroundings, and allow yourself to embrace the calmness of it all. The sounds, the smells, everything.
Decorating Your Home
I find painting a wall to be a great stress reliever. As I’m doing it, I wonder why on earth I started this, but when I finish, I feel refreshed and clean. Decorating your home can be a creative way to slow down. Allow yourself the time to create a warm and cozy place for you and your friends. Add simple touches that make you feel good. This can be anything from candles to artwork, anything you feel will make your space feel like a warm hug.
