Life At the Moment: Living with Intention on Sunday
The first time I came to Europe, I was surprised to discover how quiet Sundays were and how focused they were at living with intention.
My family and I had gone to Germany, and learned really quickly that Sunday was not a day to run to the store to get something you might have forgotten the previous day, or restock something you might have just run out of.
At first, I was very frustrated with this kind of Sunday. I mean, hello, everything should be at my fingertips, right?
But the longer we stayed in Germany, the more we began appreciating Sunday. It gave us pause to reflect and slow down.
Which is what we all strive for, I think, living with intention.

So when we moved to France, I was prepared, but also surprised yet again and ready to live with more intention.
France does have stores open on Sundays, but only until about noon. Which promoted the ideal to slow down and spend time with yourself and with your family.
Or simply just enjoy the day.
It seems strange, I get it.
Most people that I know back in the States are either rushing through Sundays by going to Church, cooking some kind of huge dinner, or even working. The weekends are often filled with so many activities, chores, and errands that it doesn’t feel like a weekend. There is no day of rest, nor is there a day when you can pause.
But we all can do this in our own lives. We can schedule blocks of time where we do nothing. Right now, as I am working on my candles and my other products for my brand I am constantly working.
However, I made time for myself because it is important. I need to be refreshed for the upcoming week and what is going to come my way.
I do have to be very organized, I will point that out.
That doesn’t mean what I do might work for you. You should figure out what works for you and your family. If that means going to church every Sunday and rushing through the weekend, then do that and do it with living intention in mind. Keep that as your focus.
Just because the day is hectic or passing by slowly like molasses, treat each moment like it is precious. Live in the moment. My advice is to take small moments throughout the day and just reflect. Appreciate what is happening, take a mental picture, and possibly just take a load off.
You don’t have to adjust your life completely you just need to figure out how to work in those intentional moments.
For me, Sundays are spent, of course, in the morning cleaning because I wake up incredibly early. (Something I’ve always done.). But then the rest of the day is spent wearing either our PJs, or in my case, sweat pants.
Eating a light lunch that is easy to make with my kids. One pulls the lettuce apart or shreds the carrots or whatever we decide to make.
Then we cuddle on the couch and watch whatever we want, or read books. Whatever makes us happy.
There is never a plan or a strict schedule. We just let things happen organically, and we allow ourselves to live intentionally.
So, this is what I leave with you. Create a life with intention that works for you. Something that you know you can create and build organically.
Thank you for stopping by and allowing me to share with you how we spend our Sundays and how you can create your intentional day of rest. I hope this inspires you to do the same for you and your family.
Don’t be shy! If you have intentional moments you incorporated into your life please share those in the comments. I would love to learn more, as would others!
