What does it mean to live with intention? Does that mean everything you do is well thought out or planned?
Actually, it is the opposite. It’s doing things on your own terms, forging a path down the road less traveled. You focus on your purpose and what it is that makes you happy. That could be through simple living, minimalist living (which can be different from simple living), or homesteading. I share my journey into simple living on my Instagram page which you can find here.
Regardless of how you want to carve your intentional living path, the one main practical step to implementing the foundations is to decide to live your own life.
Stop comparing yourself to those around you. You weren’t born to live a carbon copy life of someone else.
It is a waste of time to be envious of other people’s lives and take it from a reformed “comparing self to others” person, it can cost you a lot of money.
Embrace the journey you created, and make the most of it.

Living with Intention
Another foundational step to living with intention is to define your purpose. While not a lot of us even understand this, don’t think too hard about the purpose. Essentially what do you want to contribute to the world? The small world around you or the giant world. Find a cause or a passion and devote time and energy to that.
When you find that passion it will be clarity to the rest of your decisions and actions. We may not ever figure out if we’re making the correct choices but at least you will lead the life you want to live.

Goals to help you along the path to living with intention
-A purpose or passion
A purpose, not your job but something you really care about, gives you motivation to keep going. Gives you direction and meaning, and while that may not be living the life of the cloth or as a peacekeeper. It’s what is important to you.
For me, when I gave this some thought I realized I needed to go back to what I really loved. Of course, I do try to help others as much as I can but I also thought back to what really made me happy. Writing.
So I began focusing on that. My advice here is to give this some thought, and really think about what it was that made you really feel whole.

-Plan purpose with goals
When you discover that part of you that passion the next step is to set goals that align with that purpose or passion. Goals give you direction and help you to keep your actions down the correct path. And move towards those goals that align with everything you are moving towards.
-Learn from others
Growing is a great way to continue your intentions to live with intention. You can grow from reading, and learning from other people. Be curious and humble and recognize the value of learning. Identify people who are living out the values and goals that align with your own and study their habits and strategies.
-Practice Mindfulness
Something I’ve been trying to do is practicing mindfulness, it helps with anxiety and it helps with keeping my mind and soul aligned with the intentions I have for myself. Each day, I take action pick or small to take a moment and remind myself that I am living the life I wanted.
It wasn’t easy, and when the moments are tough and I’ve had too many blisters and bug bits and all I wanna do is cry, I think back to my “coping” mindfulness and I use that to steer me back to my path.
In our world of distractions, gadgets, and do-das, we tend to become overly simulated. Working constantly to fill that fix, seeing the likes and validations on social media.
Your time is precious, create moments that bring you joy and make you feel alive. Live with intention.

Change is scary, believe me, I faced my fear and moved across the world into the unknown and beyond familiar to find my passion and purpose. I’m not saying you need to do this, but working out the intention of your life allows you to take back control of your life. Giving you the powerful tools to be more mindful and present in your day-to-day life.
Recognize what needs to be changed, if there needs to be changes. And start there. Discover your passion and purpose by trying new things, meeting new people, and getting out of your comfort zone. As I have with living in the countryside. (I’ve learned to live with bugs.)
Remember to set goals to help you keep to the path you want, there is never any pressure to achieve a goal or create an unattainable goal, but understand there is a learning curve and it’s ok to have some trial and error.
Because as long as you know your path and purpose you’re doing just fine!
