If I could I would stay in bed all weekend, since I can’t I still try to make it as cozy as possible. After all getting into bed wrapped in cozy bedding is one of my favorite things, and I think of the most neglected in everyone’s house. (seriously check out my Instagram, I am all about relaxing)
For me, creating a space that is cozy and conducive to winding down and relaxing simply makes sense.
However, when it came time to create by small slice of cozy, I was baffled with the way I wanted it to look. Of course, I had pictures of what I wanted it to look like in my head, but implementing it was another story.
So, I started at the beginning, and what I think is the best part.

Cozy Bedding.
I used lots of layers and textures and even at times colours in my room. I believe this is the key to a cozy bedroom, layers.
Most of my room was painted in this horrible blue, but I covered it in white. In the meantime, normally I am not a fan of white. Having this blank slate made it easier for me to focus on the way I wanted the room to feel.
I am not into minimalist or contemporary décor, heavens no! I want a space that is warm and cozy and also serene. So, I decided to go with neutral and earthy colors for the bedding.
Currently, I am into creating patch blankets which bring in a magical amount of mitch match colours that somehow work together with the other bedding.
And I know I said I wasn’t into white, but I fell hard for the white rug that I placed at the foot of my bed.
The key is to create a variation with layers. Don’t be afraid to combine a variety of fabrics and patterns. Add new and old pieces to your bedding. Hand-me-down blankets or homemade blankets add a warmth far beyond just appealing.
From Bouchara, I purchased a linen duvet cover in a light brown to contrast hard against the dark green or greys from my sheets.
For added comfort and warmth I added blankets that keep me warm or inspire snuggling, such as my patch blanket(yet to be finished) and a cream or dark green quilt, both from Zara Home. (green quilt not shown)
For the pillows, I stayed with the blue, green, and dark orange theme but then added a flowery pillow with oranges and yellows. I chose colours that worked for me and my mental unwinding. These earthy tones create a pleasant warmth that gets me in the right mind for sleeping.
Purchasing your bedding doesn’t have to be expensive. Nor does everything have to be matchy matchy. Think out of the box, and allow yourself to create the space that makes you feel like this is the place where you want to stay for a while.

Cozy Tips
My tip for sheets is to at least purchase two different colours, but flow seamlessly with your scheme. The reason is simple, it is a small change if you’re bored or washing your sheets. This small change can transform your bed from the same old same to something fresh.
Most of the time I like to use the same color for an entire season, I’ll wash them once a week and reuse them until I get sick of looking at them. Which is rare. Only when I’m really lazy do I change colours.
Another Cozy Bedding tip is to utilize pillows. While they are great to look out which ones are you actually using? If the ones you have the most of are purely decoration then don’t spend a ton of money on them. Covers are pretty inexpensive especially if you make them yourself. My tip is to purchase the innards from some place like Ikea and choose the coverings you are going to love. But make sure they are washable!
If you noticed I created a knitted pillow, a copy of one I saw on the Pottery Barn website. Mine was way cheaper. The fabric and knit was only 4 euros, give or take. Regardless it was much cheaper than the “high-end” pillow that I’ll never use.
If you want to spend money on anything, I’d say the sheets and comforter are where you should spend it.
If you need to save money, again Ikea has a great selection of duvets and duvet covers. They also have sheets in colours you would never expect and they are durable! I’ve had sheets from Ikea that lasted me for well over ten years.
